The BEST and most sought-after heating system available for mountain homes: Radiant Heating (also known as floor heating)! This is better than normal furnaces or floor board heating mainly because there are no air filters, no vents, no dry air blowing, better for the environment, energy-efficient, four thermostat control, warms floors, warms every surface, and is better for allergies.
How is this different than a furnace? It takes longer to heat from starting cold and makes a "raining" noise due to the water circulating. Expect 6 hours or more if you are heating from 60 to 70. It has to heat all the surfaces and also takes that long to cool back down. This is normal but different if you are used to forced air systems with vents. We have a setting in your Virtual Doorman app that will preheat the home before you arrive to make it comfertable and avoid this start up period.
The Fireplacce has a blower and can heat the main floor quickly. This is operated with the Fireplace remote on the wall. For more details please see "Fireplace" in the manual.
All thermostats were upgraded to Ecobee electric controls with a weather display. There is one in the Master, one in the Master Bedroom, One in the Kids Room, and one Downstairs. Ultimate in flexible heating control.
There is no A/C like most mountain homes. This is normal. Most summer days average in the 70's and dip to the 40's at night. Open the windows and let the cool air in. We provide a ceiling fan in the Master and Bedroom Two. In addition, we have provided a portable fan for every room to make it more comfortable.
In Granby, the summers are comfortable and dry, the winters are freezing and snowy, and it is partly cloudy year round. Over the course of the year, the temperature typically varies from 10°F to 78°F.
